The fourth largest road bridge in the world, is an awe-inspiring structure. The Chinese authorities wanted the bridge to look equally impressive at night time and commissioned UK based lighting consultants, Pinniger & Partners to advise. As the bridge was not built at the time, any visualisation had to be computer based. In turn, Pinniger & Partners called in A1 visual, a company specialising in architectural 3d visualisations, and Emphasys to produce a CD-Rom.

Working from various sources such as engineering drawings, A1 Visual were able to generate accurate 3D views of the bridge before it was built and with help from Pinnigers were able to develop computer images of the lighting of the bridge at night. Additionally, 3D digital videos were produced, enabling the user to effectively drive over, fly over and sail under the bridge at night.

The final CD proved to be easy to use, showing the different lighting options and their effect, at the click of a button.
